Submission procedure

If you have an innovative idea for an AAA/SWITCH (e-Infrastructure for e-Science) project:

  1. Develop your project idea
    • read the project guidelines carefully
    • check, if other projects have already covered your subject or parts of it (see project list)
    • contact possible project partners who could contribute to your project
    • decide in what category your project fits best (AAA, Grid, VO or E-Learning)
  2. Discuss your project draft (use the project description form) with the contact person of your institution and aaa@switch.ch (Christoph Witzig, Petra Kauer-Ott)
  3. Your idea, entry into the scope of AAA/SWITCH, available funding and possible own contributions will be checked and you will receive a feedback
  4. Send your definitive application (project description form) to your contact person and aaa@switch.ch
(deadlines competitive bid: March 31 and September 30)
  5. Your contact person and SWITCH will (hopefully) approve your project idea and classify it (university project or competitive bid)
  6. Approved university projects may start immediately after a positive decision and the allocation of a project number

  7. If you (or one of your project partners) participate in the competitive bid, your project will be evaluated by the PWEG
  8. The PWEG will send their recommendations to the funding authorities (SUK/SBF, ETH Rat, KFH/BBT).
  9. Only for cantonal universities: CRUS will send a request to the SUK
  10. The funding authorities will (hopefully) authorise your project
  11. Each funding authority informs SWITCH about the decisions
  12. SWITCH informs the project (decisions, conditions, allocation of a project number)
(and you may start your project about 4 months after the application --> in August / January)

NOTE:

  • Please respect the deadlines for the applications (competitive bid): March 31 / Sept 30.
  • ETH contributions must pass through the competition.

Please don't hesitate to contact aaa@switch.ch and the contact person of your institution if you have questions about AAA/SWITCH projects and procedures.
