The SWITCH Junior Web Award is coming round again, giving school children the opportunity to learn how to handle the virtual world
02.10.07 - More than 100 classes created their own websites for the first Junior Web Award, ensuring a highly positive echo and learning effect. A survey conducted amongst teachers showed that more than 80 percent of those consulted are recommending the Junior Web Award to others. The competition is being launched for the second time round on 17 October.

06.09.07 - The SWITCH webcam was recently set up again – this time on the roof of a high-rise block at the ETH Zurich, from where it offers a unique view over the entire inner city area of Zurich, together with the end of Lake Zurich.
SWITCH discontinuing ENUM trial

31.08.07 - Over the past four years, SWITCH has acted as the registry for the ENUM trial in Switzerland. It will be discontinued as per 30 September 2007.
SWITCH congratulates Lucerne Fire Brigade
30.08.07 - SWITCH has congratulated Laurent Schütz, the millionth holder of a .ch domain name, in Lucerne. At the Kleinmatt fire station, SWITCH presented him with a certificate, together with a voucher for all 21 crew members to go out for an evening meal together.

26.08.07 - At the end of last week, Mr. Laurent Schütz of the City of Lucerne's fire brigade registered the one-millionth domain name with the ending .ch
SWITCH ushers in a new video conferencing era at the universities
20.08.07 - For seven years, SWITCH has been offering the Swiss universities state-of-the-art videoconferencing infrastructure. Now a new era has commenced. High Definition (HD) video conferencing has been available since the start of the month.
Amendment of the General Terms and Conditions (GTCs)
24.07.07 - SWITCH is aligning the General Terms and Conditions for domain names to the current framework conditions and is now incorporating the registration conditions in a Domain Name Registration Agreement and in the GTCs.

03.07.07 - SWITCH, the registry for .ch and .li domain names, is reducing the price for domain names from CHF 27 to CHF 22 on 1 September 2007. The new standard domain name is now called SWITCHbasic and offers attractive extra functions. And a new addition to the product range is a domain name which offers increased security – SWITCHguard.
First ISO 9001 certification in Switzerland

14.06.07 - As the first company in Switzerland, SWITCH has been awarded certification to the ISO 9001:2000 standard for its domain name accounts department by the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems (SQS).
Which school has the best website?
11.06.07 - The Junior Web Award launched by SWITCH is proving to be highly popular. More than 100 classes – or more than 2000 students – have created in excess of 100 websites. From 15 June 2007 onwards, the five best websites will be established in six categories by means of a public vote on the www.juniorwebaward.ch website and subsequent adjudication by the "Best of Swiss Web" jury.
Students conquer the "Green Diamond"
24.05.07 - The Junior Web Award launched by SWITCH is proving particularly popular. Students are learning about the internet and having a great deal of fun in the process. The island that features in the Junior Web Award was recently baptised and now bears the name of "Green Diamond".

SWITCH webcam moving to a new location
14.03.07 - After operating for more than ten years at Limmatquai No. 138, SWITCH’s popular webcam is moving to a new location. And, for this reason, it will be switched off temporarily on Thursday, 22nd March 2007.
Nationwide competition Junior Web Award has started on 1 March
22.02.07 - On 1 March, the nationwide competition Junior Web Award has started, giving school classes the opportunity to put their own website in the internet for the very first time. Delightful prizes are available to be won.
SWITCHguard: Maximum security for domain names
11.02.07 - As the first registry in the German speaking world, SWITCH is launching high-security domain names. The new product is a solution that is implemented fully electronically and it will be available by the end of 2007.
SWITCH confirmed as the registry for .ch domain names
06.02.07 - The SWITCH Foundation which operates the Swiss Education & Research Network is extending its contract with OFCOM for a further eight years. This means that SWITCH will be providing valuable services for the public at large in future too.
