Swiss internet now even more secure
February 2, 2010 / Marco D'Alessandro
On 2 February 2010, SWITCH handed over an even more secure internet to Switzerland. Marc Furrer, President of the Federal Communications Commission, and Urs Eppenberger of SWITCH jointly launched the celebratory act in the KKL Luzern. This marked the highlight of the specialist Domain pulse conference, held on 1 and 2 February 2010 in the KKL Luzern. In switching on DNSSEC, SWITCH has taken another key step in ensuring the security of the internet. DNSSEC constitutes an extension of the Domain Name System (DNS). “I am particularly proud of the fact that Switzerland is one of the first countries in Europe to introduce DNSSEC. This now guarantees security in the internet” said a delighted Marc Furrer, President of ComCom. Further information, and also the presentations and video streams of Domain pulse 2010 in Luzern, may be found on the website at www.domainpulse.ch.
