Dr. Andreas Dudler, Managing Director

Since May 2012, Andreas Dudler has been managing director of SWITCH, with responsibility for the deployment of technology and the operation of SWITCH's services. Even before being appointed managing director, Andreas Dudler had been committed to SWITCH and the Swiss university landscape for many years, alongside his main job. As Chairman of the Foundation Management Board, he played a key role in the establishment and expansion of both the Education & Research Network and the Foundation from 1999 to 2011.

• In his main job, Andreas Dudler was most recently head of the full range of IT services at the ETH Zurich over a period of 15 years. In this post, he was responsible for the operation and further development of the complex IT environment and for around 180 employees.

• Andreas Dudler similarly began his academic career at the ETH Zurich: from 1976 to 1982 he studied mathematics, before gaining his "Dr. Sc. Techn. ETH" four years later. 

• Andreas Dudler is married, the father of three daughters, and lives with his family in Bülach.
 

Dr. Constantin Tönz, Deputy Managing Director

Constantin Tönz has been Deputy Managing Director of SWITCH since 2001 and holds responsibility for the Management Services division. He has a broad-based management track record in the telecommunications, IT, logistics and production field.

• Prior to 2001 he was Head of Organisation and IT at CWS (Head Office) with responsibility for optimising business processes, IT sourcing and the introduction of SAP R/3.

• From 1994 to 1997, Constantin Tönz was employed as a business consultant at Elektrowatt. His main field of activity there involved the strategic deployment of ICT in different fields and the development of an IT company in India.

• After completing his Master’s Degree in 1991, he worked as a consultant at the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and completed his doctorate in the field of production and process management.
• Constantin Tönz holds an Executive MBA from the IMD Lausanne.
