CENTR – offers scope for consensus, cooperation and collaboration

As an interest group for all the registries in Europe, CENTR constitutes a discussion forum and also a key contact for governments and internet organisations.

Initial development work
After SWITCH had advocated coordinated cooperation between the European registries, the Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries was set up in 1999. This is a non-profit organisation which is committed to the interests and promotion of the ccTLD registries (registries for Country Code Top Level Domains, such as .ch in Switzerland or .li in Liechtenstein).

Unity in diversity
At CENTR, the focus is on forming consensuses and engaging in cooperation. Allowance is made here for the different cultural and historical features of the ccTLDs involved, as well as for their local internet communities.
