We create structures for the future
As a pioneer of the Internet in Switzerland, SWITCH now also wishes to shape the future of the World Wide Web beyond Switzerland’s national borders. And it is precisely this that we are doing as co-founders of the pan-European FEDERICA project.
A common cause
Federica stands for "Federated E-infrastructure Dedicated to European Researchers Innovating in Computing network Architectures”. The aim of this project is to provide a technology-independent infrastructure throughout Europe. The FEDERICA network is being built up on the basis of the existing network for the GÉANT European backbone, with the participation of the National Research and Education Networks (NREN).
A virtual platform for all
The virtual infrastructure of FEDERICA is to be made available to computing network researchers at Swiss universities who are working on new Internet technologies. What is the vision as regards the outcome at the end of FEDERICA? A joint international federation for e-infrastructures.
Calling all universities
