National Funds for Learning Infrastructure in 2013

7. Januar 2013

In the year 2013, the project Learning Infrastructure will develop infrastructure ath the Swiss universities with a volume of 2.1Mio Swiss Francs. 50% of the amount are federal funds, the other 50% are funded by the universities. The federal contribution is part of the programme CUS 2013-2016 P-2 "Information scientifique: accès, traitement et sauvegarde". The participating institutions are: EPFL, ETHZ, FHNW, FHO, SUPSI, UniBAS, UniBE, UniFR, UniGE, Unil, UZH, ZFH, and SWITCH.

The project is subdivided into 24 work packages covering the topics:

  • e-assessments
  • personal learning and working environments
  • e-portfolios
  • life-long learning and e-identity

It is obvious that some of the topics are covering activities of the e-identity project. In particular, I'd like to particularly point out the following work packages:

  • Requirement Analysis of Integrated Collaboration in Life-Long- Learning Environments
  • Identifying, Testing and Selecting Collaboration Environments and Feature Requests
  • Integration of 3rd party Environments with e-portfolios and institutional services
  • Life Long Learning at University
  • Pilot and Evaluation of Collaboration Environments
  • Development of e-Portfolio Support Material
  • Introducing the Personal Learning Environment in an HE Institution
  • Drill-and-Practice Functionalities for Personal Learning Environment
  • Cloud-ready Personalized Research and Learning Environments

In the following work packages SWITCH is a contributing member, and I will be actively collaborating:

  • Long-term Storage of Forgery-Proof Certificates in Use Centric Environments
  • Using the e-Portfolio as Base for a Long-Term Digital Identity

More information about this project that is relevant for the e-identity topic will continuously be published here in this channel.
