Q: Who can download learning objects?

The basic idea of SWITCHcollection is providing a access to open educational resources of swiss universities. This means that academic learning content can be downloaded and re-used freely. However, in SWITCHcollection content contributors have the possibility to restrict access to their learning contents to specific user groups.

Q: Who can upload learning objects?

The community repository of SWITCHcollection is a service for swiss higher education institutions. It has been designed to be used by any teacher or university staff member - even students could have upload rights. However, the universities are the final authorities to decide who may upload contents, and the universities define access or usage policies.

Q: What do I have to do to get upload access?

You need write permissions to one ore more folders in the community repository. There are two possibilities to get write permissions:

  • either contact the e-learning support center at your university (list of support centers)
  • or contact collection-support@switch.ch

Q: How are copyright infringements avoided?

For objects that are uploaded to the community repository: The owner of a learning object is responsible for ensuring that the works he/she uploads may be used by SWITCH in the context of SWITCHcollection.

For objects that are found through the comunity search engine: The owner of the learning object is responsible for ensuring that SWITCH is entitled to distribute the contents.

Q: How much does SWITCHcollection cost?

SWITCHcollection (and SWITCH) is funded by the swiss universities. Each university is free to subscribe to SWITCHcollection. Users of SWITCHcollection do not have to pay for the service.
