Where can I find support?
Contact your local postmaster first. He will be able to find out quickly whether the problem is a local one. If not, he will also contact the SWITCH postmaster.
Is it possible to send replies to the sender?
No, that is not possible at present.
Is it possible to request a confirmation of receipt?
Yes, that is possible – by specifying the "Reply-To" field in the header of your e-mail. However, this message only confirms that the message has successfully been forwarded to the provider.
Is SWITCH a provider?
No, but SWITCH does make functions similar to those of providers available to the Swiss universities, such as network connections.
What happens if SWITCH suspects that excessive numbers of e-mails are being sent out in an uncontrolled manner?
If SWITCH suspects any abuse of the service through excessive numbers of e-mails being sent out in an uncontrolled manner, it has the right to suspend the SMS service for the university concerned and to ask the local postmaster to look into possible causes.
Does SWITCH deliver the e-mails itself?
No, SWITCH forwards the e-mails to a provider, which then delivers the messages.
