e-Portfolio
As a first building block of the personal learning environment SWITCH provides the e-portfolio service SWITCHportfolio pilot. It is based on the open source system Mahara.
All members of a Swiss university with a valid AAI-account are entitled to use SWITCHportfolio pilot.
- use the service http://portfolio.switch.ch
For more information about SWITCHportfolio please read the About & FAQ section.
An e-portfolio has two main fields of applications:
The Learning Portfolio - as a Learning Tool for Students During a Lecture
At the beginning of the term...
- check the objectives of a lecture
- become aware of your initial competencies and the competencies you plan to acquire by the end of the term. This can be done alone or together with your tutor
During the term...
- document your learning progress in the e-portfolio
- compare the learning progress with your learning targets
- collect working material, intermediate results, notes or other artifacts in the e-portfolio
At the end of the term...
- compare your learning outcome with the learning objectives
- describe your new competencies and document them with artifacts. This can be re-used later in the presentation portfolio.
The Presentation Portfolio - as a Presentation Tool When Looking for a Job
- present selected artifacts from your studies as a proof for your competencies
- search for job offers that match your interests and your competency profile
- automatically generate a CV and electronically apply for a job
