Final resting place for Switzerland’s first router

SWITCH is donating two decommissioned first-generation network devices to the Museum of Communication in Bern, to be part of its permanent exhibition. Currently, the museum is being refurbished and will reopen on 19. August. The donation consists of the first internet router ever used in Switzerland and the first database server for the .ch and .li registry.

Cisco Systems AGS+

Used from 1988 as the first internet router in Switzerland.

Sun Ultra Enterprise 2

Used from 1996 as the first database server for the .ch and .li registry.
