SWITCHlan overcomes geographic and conceptual boundaries
As a physical link, SWITCHlan brings together universities and research institutions from all over Switzerland. The partners connected up to this Swiss Education and Research Network, which SWITCH has built up itself and is constantly further developing, derive benefit from it on all counts.
A question of conviction
Stable Internet access, the rapid and secure exchange of data at 10 Gigabit/second and an optimum connection to international networks – SWITCH offers all of this from a single source. And, in doing so, we are also prepared to go right up to the limits of what is technically feasible when it comes to the further development of the SWITCHlan Education and Research Network. This is because, operating the Swiss university network is something that SWITCH does out of conviction.
Customer proximity is what counts
Since SWITCH was set up in 1987, the Foundation has devoted all its efforts to building up and operating the Swiss university network – and has done so successfully. With some 2600 kilometres of glass fibres and a combined effort, it has proved possible to build up SWITCHlan throughout the whole of Switzerland and make it available to all the traditional universities and universities of applied sciences. Today, working together with our customers, we ensure that the academic network always incorporates up-to-the-minute technology, offers a high service quality and also remains flexible in the process.
