|Ticket Description:||High CPU load on University of Bern main Internet access|
Problem Description:The router swiBE2.switch.ch is showing high CPU load.
Affected:From 2008-06-11 18:40 until 2008-06-11 20:05
Impact: no impact
The router swiBE2 is running stable since more than 36 hours. Closing ticket.
UniBE network manager calls SWITCH-NOC. PIM re-enabled. All values are within normal range. Still monitoring
Problem might be caused by SAP storm launched by University of Paris
Decide to disable PIM during night to protect UniBE infrastructure.
Send text message to UniBE network manager, informing him about high CPU load.
Try to disable "ip pim sparse-mode" on Te1/2, RTT from 220.127.116.11 decreases to normal values, but prefer to leave PIM running, maybe somebody is using multicast.
Logging in through OOB, CPU load nearly 100%. Disabling "ip sap listen" on Te1/2. CPU load decreases. Ping to UniBE access router 18.104.22.168 still returns high round-trip-time (~1000 ms)
Sunrise Netwatch alerts SWITCH on duty engineer: They observe reachability issues with swiBE2 since one hour. Netwatch Ticket #239603
