|Ticket Description:||ARP storm at CIXP (CERN Internet Exchange Point)|
Problem Description:Excessive ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) traffic from a station at CERN Internet eXchange Protocol (CIXP) brought our router swiCE2.switch.ch to its knees.
All peerings up again, including the one with the peer that had sent the ARP storm. Apparently it was fixed.
Re-enabled CIXP interface.
CERN reports that a misbehaving station at another CIXP site (downtown Geneva) was disconnected.
Shut down the Gigabit Ethernet interface towards CIXP in order to protect CPU resources on our router swiCE2.switch.ch.
BGP connections to peers at CIXP started to go down.
