Federal Funding Requested for e-Identity Topics

September 12, 2012

In the context of the CRUS programme Accès à l'information scientifique SWITCH has submitted the project Learning Infrastructure. According to the project proposal SWITCH will manage the project, but the majority of the work will take place in the institutions.

13 Institutions are actively participating in the project: EPFL, ETHZ, FHNW, FHO, SUPSI, SWITCH, UniBas, UniBE, UniFR, UniGE, UniL, UZH and ZFH (meaning of the abbreviations). The project comprises 24 work packages on the topics:

  • e-assessment
  • collaborative work
  • personal learning environments
  • e-portfolios
  • life long learning

We are very happy that quite a few proposed work packages are tightly related to the activities of SWITCH the e-identity project:

  • Analysis and pilot for an integrated life-long learning and collaboration environment
  • Integration of 3rd party environments (like social networks) wit e-portfolios and institutional services
  • Long-term storage of forgery-proof certificates in user centric environments
  • The e-portfolio as a base for a long-term digital identity
  • Life-long learning at swiss universities
  • Development of e-portfolio support material
  • Introducing the PLE in a university
  • Learning tools for the PLE

All work packages are proposed to start and end in 2013. And we are very curious to get feedback on the project proposal from CRUS and/or the AAA-SWITCH management.
