Security & Identity – authorised and protected in the web

SWITCH not only supports secure access to the Swiss Education and Research Network – it is equally important for the correct identification of users and services to be guaranteed. Therefore, SWITCH is continuously developing and expanding its security procedures, especially for higher education and research.

SWITCHaai

Universal network authentication

Students want to be able to access e-learning material in a simple and secure way, and the SWITCHaai authentication and authorisation infrastructure makes this possible. With just a single AAI login for their own university, students are given access to libraries, documents and learning materials of all types from all over Switzerland.

SWITCHpki

Digital certificates

Anyone mailing, phoning or transmitting data via the Internet wishes to make sure that no one else is "listening in" or is given access to data by claiming a false identity. To protect the Swiss Universities' web communications, SWITCHpki compiles, verifies and distributes digital certificates for them.
