Security & Identity – authorised and protected in the web
SWITCH not only supports secure access to the Swiss Education and Research Network – it is equally important for the correct identification of the users and services to be guaranteed. SWITCH is thus continuously developing and expanding its own security procedures, which are specially tailored to the needs of the universities and research.

Universal network authentication
Students want to be able to access e-learning material in a simple and secure fashion, and the SWITCHaai authentication and authorisation infrastructure makes this possible. With just a single AAI login for their own university, students are given access to libraries, documents and learning materials of all types from all over Switzerland.

Digital certificates providing protection
Anyone mailing, phoning or transmitting data via the Internet wishes to make sure that no one else is "listening in" or is given access to data by claiming a false identity. To protect the Swiss Universities' web communications, SWITCHpki compiles, verifies and distributes digital certificates for them.
