|Ticket Description:||Scheduled fiber work in Lausanne, integration of ESSP into SWITCHlan|
|Scheduled Starttime:||Scheduled Endtime:|
Problem Description:The new site EESP will join SWITCHlan this week. A series of interventions in the fiber infrastructure is needed to integrate the new site into a newly built city fiber ring connecting EHL, EESP, and HES-SO/Av. de Provence with our SWITCHlan backbone nodes at EPFL and UNIL.
Fiber work starts on Wednesday Sep 30, 19:00. A new cable will be blown in and spliced in the area of M2 station Fourmi. On Thursday morning up to 10:00, the final splicing work is done within EESP premises. The link to Av. de Provence will be measured and brought into service first. At 13:00, splicing work will be done in Vennes, whereby EHL looses one of its Ethernet access links (which shared the same cable). After minor hardware modifications at EHL and measurements, we expect redundancy to be restored for all affected sites in mid afternoon.
Affected:From 2009-09-30 13:00 until 2009-10-01 14:00
Impact: no more redundancy
The fiber problem could be located and fixed. The link EESP - EHL is up, redundancy for all sites restored.
At EHL, swiEHL2 has been prepared for the new link to EESP which we expect Friday. All required hardware to re-establish the old link to UNIL left in place in case the fiber problems cannot be solved before weekend.
Splicings in Vennes re-checked, no errors found. Some other splicing points that now need checking have access restrictions, so further debugging is postponed to Friday morning.
Splicing work in Vennes done, but our tests fail, no light is passing.
Link HES-SO/Av. de Provence - EESP is up.
VDT announces that splicing work in Vennes has been postponed to Thursday Oct 1, 13:00. [Problem description reworded accordingly]
