Assistant professor Tara Andrews from the University of Berne has been an early adopter of the SWITCH cloud offerings. She is running Stemmaweb on our cloud, a service for textual scholars to explore the transmission of texts. With this he provides a useful tool to her research colleagues in the international community of digital humanities.
Students of Tara Andrews also get a useful tool to learn skills in digital humanities. They learn about electronic publishing, data modeling and using a tool API in Python. The environment to do that is a virtual machine of the SWITCHengines service. Students can access to it via the Internet from anywhere, for example at the university in class or from home for homework. The servers are also available for student projects.
