Ticket Description: interruption of backbone fiber between Arth-Goldau and Rodi-Fiesso

Problem Description:

The fibre link between Arth-Goldau and Rodi-Fiesso is interrupted since 08:06.
The reason is currently unknown. SBB is informed - investigation is in progress.
Network traffic has automatically switched to backup links. There is still redundancy for most of our services.

Fiber link restored. We are still on the same cable, but using another fiber bundle. All optical systems are running fine.

No quick fix is possible. SBB plans to splice us onto an existing cable currently bypassing our site Rodi. The intervention is scheduled for Tuesday Nov 26.

SBB is trying to swap some services this afternoon and switch us back to the old fiber path.

In depth analysis of measurement data shows a massive increase (+50%) of span distance Goldau - Rodi, which is contrary to the providers statement to have used undamaged fibers in the same cable as before. The provider has now confirmed that indeed a new, much longer fiber route has been patched yesterday. He is currently investigating options to give us a shorter route which is acceptable for our optical system.

SBB has located a damaged fiber cable between Erstfeld and Göschenen. They plan to switch us to another cable, but cannot give a RFS time at this moment.
