Innovative service provision

Digital services offer ever-expanding ways of making our work easier. SWITCH makes a valuable contribution here thanks to its long-standing links to the academic world, as well as its in-depth expertise and good networking. The goal is to provide different customer groups with easy access to the right digital services and data, customised to their growing and changing needs.

Researchers and lecturers increasingly use digital services and apps to make their everyday work easier. These services are usually already available in the market. SWITCH can play a pivotal role here, since the foundation has always been part of leading innovation communities. This means that SWITCH can offer different user groups not only the digital services that help them complete their work optimally, but also those that meet their requirements in terms of security, contractual conditions or automatic billing. SWITCH develops its own services if such solutions are not yet available in the market.

«SWITCH has been supporting us in the digital transformation for years», says Martin Vetterli, President of EPFL. The Foundation has been an integral part of the university community for decades. It is very well networked, possesses the necessary expertise and it is a trusted and reliable partner of all involved.

Because the customer relations focus is so important, SWITCH has set up a new Community Account Management team. At one level, it serves to obtain a picture of a university’s IT and digital strategy to address its specific needs. On another level, the new team opens up a gateway to SWITCH, which allows constant dialogue with customers.

Tania Stephan, Head of Procurement and Community Account Management, emphasises: ‘Innovation arises from constant dialogue. It requires openness, responsiveness and courage. We have all of this – and we can build on our experience. What we’re doing is challenging yet fascinating at the same time.’

SWITCH has just what it takes to act as an innovation driver: strong links to the academic world, expertise and the trust of its partners. This allows the foundation to recognise constantly changing needs at an early stage and respond to them quickly. This can only be achieved through constant dialogue with the strong network in the academic and innovation environments. Lecturers, researchers and other user groups thus have easy access to the right digital services and data, customised to their needs.
