Five years of security and stability for .ch

Published on 12.12.2016

After SWITCH won the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) public tender to operate the .ch registry, the contract was signed today at OFCOM’s base in Biel. The new contract enters into force on 1 January 2017 and is valid for five years. With its core competencies in networks and IT security, SWITCH is well prepared for the Internet’s coming developments.

  • Information and communication technology will be broadly used in the future, encroaching more and more on the world of everyday objects and personal items. It is thus essential that the Internet continues to function with absolute stability.
  • Cybercriminals who operate on a global scale are using ever more refined methods to stage attacks. Decisive action is needed to fight them. This will succeed if all stakeholders and measures are coordinated in a targeted manner and if more forward-looking work is done.
