webinar series 1 - Teaching with AI Agents: From Simulation to Course Companion
What if an AI could tutor your students, run simulations, and adapt to every learner — all while staying true to your pedagogy? In this webinar, we explore the full spectrum of AI agents as pedagogical tools in higher education and show you exactly how to design them.

Webinar topic
During this webinar, we will walk through the landscape of possibilities — from immersive role-play simulations to always-on course companions — and present two concrete case studies deployed at the University of Lausanne. You will see what worked, what surprised us, and what students actually experienced.
We will also share our methodology for supporting teachers in designing their own agents, and introduce our brand-new Metaprompt Tutor Forge: a tool that guides any instructor — without prompt engineering expertise — through the creation of pedagogically grounded AI agents.
What you will take away:
• A clear map of AI agent roles in teaching
• Real evidence from two UNIL deployments
• A reusable methodology to design your own agents
• Hands-on access to the Metaprompt Tutor Forge
Whether you are a teacher curious about AI, an instructional designer looking for structure, or a researcher following EdTech innovation, this webinar is for you.

Jeff Van de Poël
Adjoint Digital Learning
University of Lausanne
Jeff Van de Poël is Adjoint Digital Learning at the University of Lausanne, where he supports digital learning initiatives at the Centre de Soutien à l'Enseignement. He is also part of UNIL's Cellule Stratégique IA and serves as AI Counsellor for Education, contributing to the institution's reflection on the pedagogical integration of artificial intelligence. In 2026, he took on a part-time role as Scientific Coordinator for the Eduhub community, engaging with the broader Swiss higher education network on digital and AI-related topics.
With nearly three decades of experience in instructional design and educational technology — from the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie to the MOOC-ULiège programme at the University of Liège — Jeff has developed a grounded understanding of how technology can meaningfully support learning. He currently works on tools around assessment practices in AI contexts, contributes as a consultant to various AI-related projects in higher education, and helps instructors design pedagogically sound AI agents for their courses.
