FIRST is the premier organization and recognized global leader in cyber security incident response. It aims to foster cooperation and coordination in incident prevention, to stimulate rapid reaction to incidents, and to promote information sharing among members and the community at large. Currently, FIRST has more than 800 members spread over Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

FIRST develops important cybersecurity standards, such as the Traffic Light Protocol (TLP) and the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS). TLP provides a simple and intuitive schema for indicating with whom potentially sensitive information can be shared, while CVSS provides a way to capture the principal characteristics of a vulnerability and produce a numerical score reflecting its severity.

The FIRST teams work in Special Interest Groups (SIGs). They exchange cyber threat intelligence (CTI), identify new trends and develop proactive measures to prevent and defend against cyberattacks. With the support of countries such as the United Kingdom, FIRST participates in Capacity Building Initiatives in developing regions.

Added value for the Swiss internet community

Michael Hausding has many years of experience from his operational work as a cybersecurity expert at the Switch CERT computer emergency response team and his international cooperation. His election is not only a sign of recognition, but also brings concrete benefits for the Swiss internet community. This is because FIRST’s insights and developments feed directly into Switch's work – for example, in the Human Factors in Security SIG, the Capture the Flag Platform or the DNS Abuse SIG on Stakeholder Advice

In his role as a member of the board of directors, Michael Hausding actively contributes to further strengthening the protection of critical Internet infrastructures – for a secure, stable and resilient Internet.
