Tom Kleiber to leave Switch
Tom Kleiber, Managing Director of Switch, will leave the foundation at the end of 2025 to take on a new challenge. The search for a successor is underway.

After five successful years as Managing Director of the Switch Foundation, Tom Kleiber has decided to embark on a new challenge. He will be leaving the company on 31 December 2025 to take over as the CEO of Aveniq on 1 January 2026.
‘It has been a privilege for me to work alongside so many talented and committed employees and to serve Swiss universities and research institutions in this way,’ says Tom Kleiber.
During his time at Switch, Tom Kleiber played a key role in shaping the foundation’s strategic direction, driving forward new solutions such as Switch Cloud and developing Switch as an agile, learning organisation. One of his primary concerns was promoting the digital sovereignty of the university community.
Alexandre Gachet, Chairman of the Switch Foundation Council, emphasises: ‘Thanks to Tom Kleiber’s outstanding efforts, Switch has become an important and well-positioned asset for the further digitalisation of the Swiss Education Area.’
New strategic direction
The recently adopted strategy ties in directly with this development and addresses the key challenges that universities are facing: tackling more complex tasks with fewer resources. As a digitalisation partner, Switch supports the community with collaborative solutions and critical infrastructure. Switch thus relieves the burden on universities by making a significant contribution to cost savings through synergies within the education area.
